About three weeks ago we were all sitting at the table discussing Molly's return to BYU in August, and the fact that she needed to get out of her apartment and somehow stay at our house for a month or two before school starts. With Jarom and Melissa and Bryson here there isn't a lot of extra space, let alone private space for Molly to use. So we decided that we just might have to modify our basement a bit. Jane had some ideas, but Jarom and I had to figure it out on our own. The conclusion was as much as we like the idea of a pool table, the reality is that we really don't use it (it came with the house) so if we used that space (and sold the table) we could probably put a room there. Our friends had a local contractor that they had used, so we gave him a call. His bid came in right about what we could afford, and he thought he could do the work in a week or two. We had toyed with doing the improvements ourselves, but at that price, we went with the "pros", a decision which proved to amazingly wise. The addition took 7 days from start to finish. We'll do the final painting, but as you can see the overall results are decent. Our next project with be to add a shower! Our plan is to use the room primarily as a guest room. We're still debating whether to make it a nice guest room, or a bunk house for grand kids. Well for now, it will be Molly's little bedroom during the summer and holiday breaks, and a guest room for the in-between times.
This is the "before" shot.
This is the "after" shot
New bedroom door from the foot of the basement stairs.
Slightly different angle. The rack will be going when we sell the pool table (its on Craigs List).

FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!
I enjoyed the video tour and a special applause for the time-laps photos. Looks very cozy.
It's nice to be able to show it off. I like the video tour. The empty room looks so big with just Bryson in it.
We enjoyed sleeping in the new room. It was very comfortable and I loved the lighting. We were able to read for awhile while we unwound after the Eagle Court of Honor.
